Questions and answers
Everything you need to know about ordering from Amazon.it and collecting from a locker during your trip.
Ordering and payment
No. You need an active Amazon account to order from Amazon.it. You can use your existing account (Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk, etc.) or open one just for Amazon.it - both work on the Italian site.
Purchases on Amazon.it are in euros (€). Your card is charged at your bank's exchange rate on the day of purchase. Amazon itself usually doesn't add a conversion fee.
Yes - Amazon gift cards work on Amazon.it as long as the card is for the European or global store. Cards issued specifically for the US Amazon.com won't work.
Not always. Items sold directly by Amazon (Venduto e spedito da Amazon) can usually go to a locker. Third-party items depend on that seller's policy - check the product page before adding to cart.
Lockers and pick-up points
Open the locker finder, search for your hotel address, choose a nearby pick-up point with convenient hours and add it to your Amazon address book.
Amazon Locker is an automated locker - usually open 24/7, you collect with a QR code and no staff are involved. Amazon Counter is a partner shop (a supermarket or petrol station) - limited opening hours, and you show your code plus ID. Choose a locker for maximum flexibility.
Amazon Locker keeps the parcel for 3 calendar days from arrival. Amazon Counter keeps it for up to 7 days. You get an email and SMS with the code as soon as it is ready to collect, plus a reminder a day before it expires.
The parcel goes back to Amazon's warehouse. In most cases you get a full refund within 5-7 business days, and Amazon emails you a refund confirmation automatically. You usually don't need to contact customer service.
Lockers come in different sizes - S, M, L and XL. For big items (like a suitcase) there may be no free compartment that fits, and Amazon will suggest a Counter pick-up point instead. Check availability when you order.
Delivery and timing
With Amazon Prime, most items arrive within 1-2 business days. Without Prime, usually 3-5 business days within Italy. Before ordering, check the estimated delivery date on the product page - it is calculated for the locker you chose.
Not directly. You can cancel the order (if it hasn't shipped yet) and order again with a different date. Once the parcel has shipped, the locker and date can't be changed.
Contact Amazon.it customer service (available by chat and phone). If the parcel didn't arrive within the promised window, you're entitled to a full refund. That's one of the advantages of the pick-up service - Amazon is responsible for the timing.
Returns and cancellations
Go to "Your Orders" (I miei ordini) on Amazon.it, find the order and click "Annulla articoli" (cancel items). Cancelling before dispatch is immediate and you are refunded within 3-5 business days.
Contact Amazon.it customer service within 30 days of collecting it. For items sold directly by Amazon you get a full refund or a free replacement. Photograph the damage before you get in touch - it speeds things up.
Amazon.it gives you 30 days from delivery to return it. If you didn't collect or cancel it, the parcel goes back automatically after 3-7 days (depending on the locker type) and you get a refund. If you did collect it, you have to return it yourself, which is harder once you've left Italy.
Account and language
Yes. Amazon.it is in Italian and English - switch the interface language to English at the bottom of the page by clicking "English". Most of it is simple and works like the Amazon you already know.
European Prime (if you signed up on Amazon.de or Amazon.co.uk) works on Amazon.it. US Amazon.com Prime doesn't carry over directly - you may need to join Italian Prime (first month free).
The official Amazon Shopping app lets you search for pick-up points by GPS location. Download it in advance, sign in to your account and check the lockers near your hotel before you arrive.
